Gaining Extra Time

From the Telegraph this morning...

How to gain extra time:

Get married...... 7 years for a man, 2 years for a woman
Moderate cardiovascular activity 30 mins five days a week...... 2-4 years
5 portions of fruit and veg...... 3 years
Increased amounts of omega-3 (oily fish and almonds etc)...... 3 years
Give up smoking...... 6 years
Meditate for 2o mins every day.... 1 year
Keep a pet...... 1 year
Do brain exercises...... 5 years
Chat to friends...... 3-4 years
Sleep for eight hours a night....... 6 years

And finally,
Sex every day...... 8 years

Dr Grump, for some reason, is looking very smug. 'I'm going to live forever.' she says.

Hah - all exercise, yet only 2-4 extra years. Back to my couch ... actually my bed, I like that last option, which I presume is not included in the cardiovascular activity category. Now, if you add more sex, would that would replace the other horrid c/v stuff?

Sex every day - 8 years - bloody hell!

I could remain single; ditch the pet (far too hard to contemplate); ditch the fruit and veg quotient (arrgh, the abdomen strikes a note of warning); dump the fish (far too smelly) and still remain with a positive result!

All this as long as I become rampant, once a day. It's far easier to take one capsule of cod liver oil, some glucosamine, a multi-vit, a vit B complex, and the rest, once a day. You don't have to be in the mood for that; you just have to have a good memory.

But now that I know the science of this, I may just have to revisit my life and find some displacement activity that props up my "living longer" factor!

Thanks for letting me know!

Isn't sex at NIGHT counted?
Does it have to be sex in the DAY?

Yes, I think that last option (day or night, I believe) is something little publicised by the medical profession, which I think strange.

What the! 8 years! What am I doing on the internet when there's all that sex needing my attention!

Perhaps sex is the major popular mode of exercise? Or maybe it has something to do with peace-of-mind or affection?

Is it the same for men and women?

Note that you're immediately breaking the rules by blogging for 24 hours straight. I never get 8 hours of sleep. How do people manage so many?

Second thoughts: Perhaps those who are frisky enough for daily boudoir calesthenics are really just in better shape all around...

Dewey: Exactly so...though thinking about it no one seems to have done a study on how the internet affects life-span. Is it more or less beneficial than sex? That is the question.

Marly: Now this is interesting - is it the exercise or the psychological? I had rather assumed it was the physical.

Also I would guess it is different for men and women since I read recently that sex lights up different parts of the brain in males and females. I shall have to ask Dr Grump about this for more detail. It is her area...

I don't think I have ever had 8 hours sleep - but then I've never needed much sleep even as a child.
