The Sad Demise of One Word Radio

When my last novel was published in 2004 I was very lucky to be interviewed not only by Jenni Murray on Women's Hour on Radio 4 but also by the rather charming Paul Blezard on One Word Radio.

One Word is (or rather was) a digital radio station (and therefore available world wide on the web) entirely devoted to books, but I read just now on Crime Fiction Reader's blog that this no longer exists. It is a sad story and one that Crime Fic Reader tells very well here.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. I have actually had it on today but it's all repeats, but perhaps this is a sign that they are trying to keep it going somehow in the hope of finding new backers.

Yes, someone emailed me to let me know it was still on the radio - but it'd just repeats, as you say.

I'm so upset that Oneword has gone, it had become my favourite station over the last few years and I shall miss it dreadfully.

I hope it can come back in some form, Heather. Fingers crossed.

fingers and toes crossed Clare, if there's anything we, as former listeners can do, I wish those concerned would just ask! Oneword is worth fighting for!

Hi Guys, I've been trying to get some files from the oneword site and have found out that they were managed by a company called Audioville, website - www.audioville.co.uk. Perhaps if they get enough contact and demand, oneword will be reinstated.

Hi there

just to let you know I emailed Audioville re Oneword Radio, who emailed back saying UCB Media Group were responsible for the channel. I then emailed them and received a reply stating that there is no chance of Oneword Radio being reinstated.

Sad but true

Regards

Heather

Thanks Heather. It's a great shame - I just hope something comes along to replace it.
