In which Silas contemplates the great brown sea lions.

Today I have been back to Patagonia. Once again it is May, and therefore late Autumn, and I have been looking down on these great brown sea lions

amassed and bellowing on

platforms of volcanic tuff.

It is a bleak place of plains (the trees are a recent introduction)

and narrow, shallow valleys

with dry soils and strange animals like these guanaco.

I am now on page 139, and happy with my progress.

Wonderful pictures, I really love that colour of blue that you get in autumn sea skies.

Thanks, Barbara - it is a lovely blue, isn't - very intense.

I love what you are doing here - exciting! I love the progress reports.Patagonia looks a little like a cross between Central Otago, NZ (Alexandra perhaps) and somewhere in Africa!

Kay - I always imagine NZ being a bit like the UK! You make me want to see it more than ever.

Looks like a wonderful place.

I couldnt help trying to spot images and faces in that third image. Rock faces can be so characterful.

Just taken another look, Jem - yes, I see what you mean - a bit like seeing a man in the moon.
