Good-bye Christmas

Last night with our tree...

The only 'Christmas' text I had anything to do with this year was an audiobook called Christmas at Candleshoe by Martin Innes.  This was a crime mystery which had nothing at all to do with Christmas, a negligible mystery or criminal element but was nonetheless highly entertaining in an arch, tongue-in-cheek sort of way.

I'm a big fan of Michael Innes' detective novels, they're quite crazy and eccentric and entertaining to read. Michael Innes in reality was academic J.I.M Stewart, who wrote detectve novels in his spare time under the above assumed name.

Thanks Anne - just Wikied him. Somehow, just knowing his background makes me appreciate him even more. It seems to me he wrote these books purely for fun - hugely impressive output too! I'll be reading some more Michael Innes when I get the chance.
